Protests for Overdoses?

I agree. It’s time to stop being ashamed. Stop sweeping the disease of addiction under the rug. Thank you for posting this.

Mother Of An Addict

I sit back and every where on the news is about the Michael brown shooting. The tons of protests, looting, and violence over this subject. Before you read any further please understand I am not dismissing Michael Browns life, nor anyone else’s. My sincere sympathy goes out to the loved ones of Michael Brown. I too can relate to his parents because I too have lost a child. I just lost a child in a much different way. Some would say  my child controlled his death. Did Michael really have control over overdosing on heroin when he clearly had a untreated disease? What makes one person’s life valued over another?

  1. I lost my partner to an overdose.I never expected anything like this to happpen to him.he was in recovery for a long time,we were both very active in our NA group.we were best friends, and I had no intention of it ever being anything different.boy was I wrong.we were soul mates.I had never been with anyone that loved and accepted me as me, and never tried to control me or abuse me.then 1 day he had dental work done, surgery.a week he left for work and later that day his brother called he had 6 massive heart atacks for a speedball.he lived 3 weeks, very unexpected.this gorgeous 250#black dude came home at 112# and in the last week told me things about my 4 kids that would happen in the future.I didn’t believe, but it is all true.
3 of my kids never acceptep our realtionship, his family treated me like family and still do.no one understands the devestation of an overdose death and judge.that is reallity.sad, but true.will overdoses ever stop/not as long as there is money to be made off the drug.

    • I am very sorry for you loss. My prayers and condolences to you and your family Adele. Addiction is a deadly disease in so many ways. Overdoses i think are one of the leading causes. Its truly sad that all though the masses know that this is happening and why little is being done to prevent. I guess your right its all about money. The sad truth.
